Highest efficiency with Topcon n-type solar cells
Count on maximum energy yield: The ULTRAblack tiger solar modules from tigerexped are equipped with state-of-the-art Topcon n-type solar cells, which are among the most powerful cells on the market with an impressive cell efficiency of 25% in this module.
This technology ensures that you get the most out of your solar power even with limited space on the roof of your camper, van, or expedition vehicle.
Higher yield in partial shade thanks to clever circuitry and bypass diodes
On the road, partial shading of solar panels by trees or buildings is often unavoidable. The modules therefore use clever circuitry and bypass diodes to significantly minimize power losses when individual areas are shaded. This way, you remain maximally supplied even in difficult conditions.
Robust technology for use on motorhomes and campers
The modules are designed for use under all travel conditions: operating temperatures from -40 to +85°C and limited dimensions for lower vibration sensitivity while driving ensure that you are supplied with self-sufficient solar power everywhere, even after bumpy roads.
Stylish yet discreet – uncompromising black design
The completely black design of these solar modules ensures that the module blends seamlessly and elegantly into the overall appearance of your vehicle.
Connecting the solar panel to the motorhome
The connection is made on the back via two pre-assembled, 90cm long cables with MC4-standard plugs.
For a watertight roof feed-through, we recommend either the Multi cable gland or single (6-10mm) and double, horizontal cable glands (5-6 mm) from Scanstrut.
More information on setting up your solar system
To connect the solar panel to the battery, a solar charge controller is always required. For this, you need solar stranded wire of the appropriate length, an MC4 male connector, and an MC4 female connector (see our Solar Installation Material category).
We recommend the SmartSolar charge controller from Victron Energy (please select the appropriate size). If you want to connect several panels together, a larger controller is required. You can find out which controller you need as follows:
The values of an MPPT 75/15, for example, mean a maximum of 75V open-circuit voltage of the panel (Voc) and a maximum of 15A rated charging current. The Voc value is in the data sheet for every panel; the rated charging current must be calculated.
Calculation example:
The black tiger 100 solar module has a Voc of 37.20V. This is less than 75V, and therefore the solar controller with 75V open-circuit voltage is sufficient.
To calculate the rated charging current, divide the rated power by 12.8V: So 100Wp divided by 12.8V equals 7.81A. This is smaller than 10, and therefore the MPPT 75/10 solar controller can be used for our black tiger 100.
