Notes on Battery Disposal

In connection with the sale of batteries or the delivery of devices containing batteries, we are obliged to inform you of the following:
 
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.
 
You can either return old batteries that we sell or have sold as new batteries at your own expense or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse (shipping address). Alternatively, you can drop off the batteries at local collection points.
 
As an end-user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries so that they can be reprocessed or disposed of properly.
 
Old batteries can contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese, or nickel and can be recycled.
 
The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meaning:
 
The symbol of the crossed-out wheelie bin means that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste.
 
In the case of batteries that contain a certain mass of lead, cadmium or mercury, the following additions below the symbol with the crossed-out wheelie bin indicate the respective harmful substances:
 
Pb = battery contains more than 0.004 mass percent lead
Cd = battery contains more than 0.002 mass percent cadmium
Hg = battery contains more than 0.0005 mass percent mercury

Waste as a Resource

Batteries and accumulators contain valuable materials that can be recycled and reused, e.g. for battery production. This saves raw materials and helps protect the climate.

Protecting the environment

If batteries or rechargeable batteries are carelessly disposed of in nature or on the street, toxic substances they contain, such as mercury or lithium, can be released. This is dangerous for humans, animals, and plants, as they can reappear in the food chain, for example, through air or groundwater.

Ensure security

If batteries or rechargeable batteries end up in household waste, the risk during the subsequent disposal process is high, such as during compaction in the vehicle or shredding in the plant. A fire in the waste collection vehicle or the disposal facility can be the result.
