Victron Orion XS DC-DC Battery Charger

The Orion XS DC-DC battery charger uses engine power to charge your service battery, combining impressive performance with an ultra-compact, extremely robust design. Available as a 12V and 12V/24V mixed-voltage model, it is ideal for dual battery systems and functions simultaneously as a DC-DC converter for sensitive electronics.

The Orion XS supports any alternator and battery configuration with configurable voltage and current, achieves 98.5% efficiency, and maintains its full rated power even at 40°C. It draws a stable load from intelligent Euro 5/6 alternators, thereby preventing the service battery from being undercharged. The 4-stage charging algorithm adapts to the depth of discharge, extending the service life of all common battery technologies.

Smallest design,

The Orion XS is the most compact high-performance DC-DC charger on the market, offering a charging efficiency of up to 98.5%. Its electronics stay cool, while full rated power is maintained even in tight, hot installation spaces.

Configurable voltage and current

Input current can be precisely limited to prevent alternator overload. Charging voltage is fully configurable to accommodate lithium, AGM, gel, and other battery chemistries. For mixed-voltage systems, the Orion XS 1400 also offers 12V-to-24V or 24V-to-12V conversion.

Full rated power, even in intense heat

The Orion XS uses a newly developed aluminium printed circuit board that acts as a heat sink, combined with more efficient components to reduce power losses. Thanks to this design, the charger can deliver full power up to a temperature of 40°C before thermal derating occurs: 700 W for the 12|12-50A, 1000 W for the 12|12-70A, and 1400 W for the 1400 model.

Parallel operation for higher power

Need more charging power? Connect multiple Orion XS units in parallel to increase the output current for larger battery banks or high-demand applications. This flexible setup makes it easy to expand charging capacity as needs grow.

Smarter charging through data exchange

VE.Smart Networking allows wireless data exchange with other Victron devices for accurate voltage and temperature compensation. The other option is to connect a communication center to the VE.Direct port and access DVCC: Victron's system-wide control function for coordinated battery charging and discharging.

A solution for every battery

The Orion XS charges all common battery types, including lithium, AGM, gel, and lead-acid. It has eight battery presets, but charging settings can also be individually adjusted via the VictronConnect app.
